Ornithologist Shares Her Life Path with PAHS Students
Following her presentation to the OPAS chapter last Wednesday evening, Joanna Wu, a UCLA PhD candidate in Ornithology, spoke to an engaged group of Port Angeles High School science students. Using only two slides, Joanna inspired the students with the story of her life path from her early childhood to her current PhD studies at UCLA focused on the study of female birds.

Protection Island Nest Box Check
On July 17th, Ken, Dow and Dee Renee caught a boat ride with USFW staff Adam and Mallory for a quick check of the 13 Purple Martin (PUMA) nest boxes on Protection Island. It was a beautiful morning with cool breezes on the water, and lingering clouds that made one wonder if dry lightening was in the forecast.
