Exciting New Backyard Birding Series Kicks Off!

On September 7, 2024, we launched the highly anticipated Backyard Birding series with an inspiring first session. This episode introduces the North Olympic Wildlife Habitat Project, a groundbreaking initiative by OPAS. This project collaborates with other conservation organizations in the Garden for Wildlife™ program, spearheaded by the National Wildlife Federation (NWF).

Join Christie Lassen, the owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Gardiner, WA, as she guides us through the Garden for Wildlife checklist. Discover the steps needed to achieve NWF habitat certification and learn how easy it can be to transform your yard or terrace into a thriving wildlife haven.

After Christie’s insightful overview, Ron Sikes from the Admiralty Audubon Society’s “Plants for Birds” program in Port Townsend takes the podium. Ron delves into the crucial role of native plants in creating bird-friendly habitats. He shares a carefully chosen list of locally available plants and highlights the diverse songbirds they attract.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how you can make a difference in your own backyard and support our feathered friends!
