Fawn Wagner

In this talk, Fawn will share about the groundbreaking agreement between the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to co-manage the Dungeness and Protection Island National Wildlife Refuges. Fawn will explore the transformative value of integrating diverse perspectives in wildlife and habitat conservation.

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe entered into a co-management agreement with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in August 2024. The Tribe is now responsible for the daily management of the Dungeness and Protection Island National Wildlife Refuges, located within the usual and accustomed territory of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe. These National Wildlife Refuges were conserved and protected primarily for avian species, and the Tribe is working hard to restore and improve these vital habitats. This presentation will discuss some of the ways in which the Tribe is managing these habitats for avian species.

Fawn Wagner is the Wildlife Refuge Manager and Ecologist for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Refuge Management Program. She comes to the Tribe with a diverse background in land management, conservation, and restoration with a primary focus on wildlife ecology. She has several years of experience as a wildlife rehabilitator and avian trainer, specializing in raptor species and ecology. Fawn is excited to bring her background and expertise to the new Refuge Management Program.
