PAHS Olympic Peninsula Audubon Scholarship Winners!

May 22nd was a special day for two Port Angeles High School seniors who were each presented with a $1000 Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society Natural Sciences Scholarship Award.

This year, four OPAS scholarships are being awarded to students attending Sequim and Port Angeles High Schools who are pursuing a college education in environmental sciences, ecological studies, and related fields.

The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society Scholarship Committee examined all applicants’ Scholarship Notebooks, and selected Faye Dachs and Octavia Smith from Port Angeles High School. Two students from Sequim High School will receive their awards in June.

Faye Dachs is planning to attend Evergreen State College in the field of Environmental Studies. Octavia Smith plans to study Biology at Western Washington University.

These scholarships were presented in memory of Kendra Donelson (1946-2024), an inspiring OPAS leader and naturalist.

This sheet was included with the awards packet, recognizing Kendra’s life accomplishments.
