OPAS/DRAC LECTURE & DISCUSSION “The Ascent of Birds”

  • Dungeness River Audubon Center (map)

The Ascent of Birds

An Invitation to the Spectacular Diversity of Birds.

This is a repeat of the October 8, 2019 discussion, for those who may have missed the first of the series of lectures. Join us to hear about the Tinamou’s Story: Death of a Paradigm. (The story of large flightless birds.)

Join Jim Karr, University of Washington Professor Emeritus, for a lecture and discussion series stimulated by a pioneering new book by John Reilly – The Ascent of Birds: How Modern Science Is Revealing Their Story (2018).

Each session will explore key concepts in the evolution of a bird species or group. All discussions richly illustrated with photos, maps, and other visual material. Read one or two average ten-page chapters for each session.

Free.
