Meeting Place: Start at Three Crabs WDFW parking lot (at west end of Three Crabs Rd) at 7:30 AM. After surveying Three Crabs birds, we will travel to Dungeness Landing County Park, on Oysterhouse Rd off Marine Drive.
Features: Shorebird migration is in full swing in early August, and Dungeness Bay is one of the best places to watch it unfold. We’ll look for an exciting mix of shorebirds, water birds, and the ever‑charming gulls that gather on the mudflats and estuary at the mouth of the Dungeness River. Expect lots of activity and plenty of opportunities to practice identification.
Special Requirements: We’ll have to step over a few beach logs to access Three Crabs beach. Dungeness Landing Park is accessible to all. If you have a spotting scope, bring it.
Liability Form: The OPAS field trip liability release form will now be included in the Eventbrite registration. It will require a check mark that indicates you have read and agree to the liability form language before registration continues. Important! Please provide your first and last name and other participants’ names, if applicable, during registration. This requirement will free up your time and the field trip leader’s time to collect signatures.
