Fish Hatchery and Fish Hatchery Road Clearcut
Date and Time: Saturday, June 15th, 7:30 a.m.
Leaders: Marie Grad and Skip Perkins
Limited to 10 participants – Register below at the “REGISTER” button.
Meeting Place: Dungeness Fish Hatchery, 1261 Fish Hatchery Rd., Sequim. Park in the main parking lot by the fishponds.
Cost: Free
Features: Clearcuts are great habitat for birds like MacGillivray’s Warblers, House Wrens, and Olive-sided Flycatchers to name a few. We will also look for birds like dippers and Spotted Sandpipers along the river at the fish hatchery. The woods at the hatchery may have Western Flycatchers, Western Wood Peewees and possible Hammond’s Flycatchers.
Bring: Binoculars, good walking or hiking shoes and weather appropriate clothing. You may also wish to bring sunscreen and water, depending on weather conditions.
Special requirements: We will be carpooling up to the clearcut area because of the limited parking. Also, the terrain at the clearcut is very uneven. Walking sticks for balance would be recommended for those with mobility issues. There will be some walking on the hatchery trail. This is a flat easy walk.
