Audubon Western Bluebird Climate Watch Survey

When: Thursday, June 1 to Thursday, June 15

Join the OPAS Western Bluebird Watch Program and National Audubon Climate Watch as a volunteer in the upcoming Climate Watch Survey

Detail:  Volunteers are needed to conduct 5-minute surveys in 4-5 select tracts of Clallam County where the National Audubon Climate Change Model predicts an increase in Western Bluebird nesting by year 2020.

Highest areas of prediction are the Miller Peninsula, Sequim, and areas around Port Angeles. The 5-minute survey can occur any day between Thursday, June 1 and Thursday, June 15.

Protocol for the survery: Contact the OPAS Climate Watch coordinator, select a date during this time period when you will be conducting the survey, add your location to the climate watch survey so your tract can be identified, count all of the birds that you see during this 5-minute time period, and then report them.

This is the second phase of National Audubon’s Climate Watch Program to explore how birds across North America are responding to climate change.

For more information about the program and to participate in the survey contact Joyce Volmut 785-554-6379 or email at  joyce.volmut@gmail.com
